Lily Pond Landscape. Reflections.

        There was a moment during my walk when the light hit the water so perfectly that the reflections seemed more solid than the lilies themselves; I knew I had to capture that golden vibration. Water acts as nature's mirror, dissolving the solidity of the world into fluid, shifting shapes. In this piece, I wasn't interested in painting water as a flat surface, but as a depth that holds the sky and the foliage. The focus here is on the verticality of the reflections—how the reality of the garden melts into the abstraction of the pond.

        The energy here is loose and atmospheric. I used dragging brushstrokes to pull the colors down, blurring the line between the plants and their inverted doubles. It creates a sense of vibration, as if a light breeze has just disturbed the surface. The palette is lighter, more ethereal, capturing the hazy brightness of early morning.

        To achieve this optical vibration, I relied on broken color, placing unblended strokes of blue, grey, and ochre side by side. This prevents the water from looking heavy; instead, it shimmers, allowing the eye to mix the tones at a distance.
