        The painting depicts a lovely Parisian street scene with the Sacré-Cœur Basilica as the focal point. Paris has a unique grey light that is unlike anywhere else in the world. It is soft, reflective, and deeply nostalgic. In this painting, I wanted to capture the wet pavement of Montmartre just after a rain shower, when the city acts as a mirror to the sky. The white dome of the Sacré-Cœur rises in the distance not just as a landmark, but as a beacon of light.

      I used the 'wet-on-wet' technique to blur the boundaries between the buildings and their reflections, creating a sense of movement and fleeting atmosphere. The cool blues and slate greys are punctuated by the warmth of streetlights and shop windows, creating a balance between the cold air and the warmth of the city life.
